Todd Hutchins supports the firm’s attorneys with the knowledge, skills, and perspective gained from years of experience in several careers, including having worked as an attorney in the Washington, DC offices of two top-tier law firms. (Todd is not yet licensed to practice law in Florida). After graduating magna cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center, he served clients in a wide variety of matters including civil litigation, international arbitration, regulatory compliance counseling, white-collar corporate criminal defense, and advocacy before state and federal administrative agencies. He worked in the DC offices of an elite Wall Street firm and then a small boutique firm, serving clients in all facets of counsel and advocacy.
He has experience with many different kinds of legal matters and clients. He has worked on behalf of Fortune 500 corporations and smaller companies, nonprofit citizens’ groups, and individuals—on matters ranging from commonplace business disputes, to major defense contractors’ compliance with the Arms Export Control Act and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, to public health organizations’ enforcement of the Clean Air Act, to securing political asylum or disability benefits for persons in need, and more. Having served such a diverse array of clients in so many different areas of law, Todd is quick study in any new field, and easily applies his skills to any of the various issues which the firm’s clients may encounter.
In addition to having worked with a couple of top-tier law firms, Todd has worked on staff with local community non-profit organizations and has volunteered with others, and his organizational management experience has included small entrepreneurial businesses as well. After stepping away from the practice of law, he traveled extensively and lived abroad for some years in several countries where he has worked as a scuba diving instructor, a small business manager, and as a high school teacher. Those years have provided him with an international and cross-cultural perspective which many legal services providers lack, and which often adds value to his work for the firm’s clients, in addition to his years of experience in advocacy, counseling, and management. Now back in the US to spend more time with family after years abroad, he enjoys working with the team at Blumenauer & Blumenauer and assisting the firm’s lawyers serve their clients to resolve their legal issues and to make the best of their personal and business lives.
